Designer Homecoming Dresses No One Else Will Have

By: Paige Mastingten

What is it about Homecoming that makes it so terrific? Everything! Homecoming usually happens at the start of the school year, making it the first formal event of the year. The whole school looks forward to it, and there is usually a high attendance rate when it occurs. Homecoming is an excellent opportunity for girls to display their fashion sense and wear gowns that will make others envy them. The boys are not really interested in what they wear to the occasion, but they do care about arriving with a fashionable girl.

Start planning early for Homecoming events, especially if you are a candidate for Homecoming Queen. Choosing your dress early is of utmost importance. Make sure to select your dress early, especially if you have decided on a designer dress. Designer lines usually have limited production and, when offered, don't last long in shops. Seeing that there is limited production of designer styles, you must shop early if you want to find the year's best styles; this also ensures that your dress will be the only one of its kind at the prom.

For many, finding a designer whose style you like is the key to finding the perfect dress, especially when you see the new designs that they have out for this year. My personal preferences, in terms of designers, are Flirt and Jovani. The Jovani "Beyond the Prom" style is a favorite of mine, since it could also be worn as a party dress for New Year's Eve. Once you have picked out a designer that you like the best, the shopping and trying on gowns is all fun!

Online shopping is an option that you should definitely look into, seeing that the choices of your favorite designer gowns may be limited in the store. Online shopping gives you more choices and a much better chance to purchase your dream gown before others grab it. It is also less stressful. Make sure you take your measurements carefully and compare them to the size chart provided by the designer. Don't make the mistake of assuming all designers use the same size chart, because sizes do vary by designer. For example, a size 4 dress by Jovani "Beyond the Prom" is the same as a size 6 in a gown by Flirt.

Always order your dress based on the size that you are now - you may plan to diet, but not all miracle diets will work. However, if the diet does work, there's no need to worry about the dress being too big. A skilled seamstress will be able to alter the dress so that it fits perfectly and you will look beautiful. If you purchase a smaller size, you may break your diet because you are too stressed about what will happen if the dress doesn’t fit.

When you order a gown online, you have the benefit of having a larger selection to choose from, so it will be less likely that another girl at the dance will be wearing the same dress. Shopping online also allows you to find great prices! Online stores have a greater choice of gowns at lower prices than department stores because they only sell one product and have no overhead costs. As a matter of fact, once you've shopped online, you may never shop at the department store again!
