Bathroom Features You Cannot Live Without, The Vanity Lighting And The Mirror

By: Tommy Kenningston

The lightings and mirrors in your bathroom must be perfect. They are most important because with their help, you can see yourself the way you should be in natural lightings. Men and women are both conscious of their appearance so true reflections in the bathroom when getting ready is crucial.
Is the mirror in your bathroom functioning as it should?
You need to be able to see yourself clearly when you do stuffs like shaving, washing your face and what not. This is the first function of the bathroom mirrors. When buying, apart form its function, you need to see whether the mirror will enhance the look of your bathroom. It will naturally make your bathroom appear spacious. They are useful aesthetic pieces that will improve the whole look of your bathroom. You can make your own mirror design or simply purchase a desired one from the store.
- Buy a Mirror that would compliment the overlook or design of the bathroom.
If it’s going to be a blue-green motif for the bathroom, then it wouldn’t look goof it you’re going to place a mirror with frames in bright orange or hot pink unless you really want to make the mirror a standout. Still, it can be a certified standout without ruining the general image of the bathroom. Also consider when buying the kind of maintenance that will be required to keep them in good condition. A low-maintenance mirror will not eat up much of your time in cleaning them up.
- Make your Mirror your Own
You don’t actually need to make a mirror out of a frame and a sheet of glass nor come up with one that would compliment the whole look of your bathroom since you’re being personal here. You may just buy a framed mirror already and just simply add designs. Adorn the sides of the frame with anything that would reflect your personality. For example you’re an outdoor person who loves the water. Why don’t you stick seashells on the side and glue some sand as well? Or you attach miniature sporting equipment or stuffs that usually come as a toy or as a key chain like rubber shoes, tennis racket, soccer ball and all the other playing balls… you may also apply varnish on the wood and a bit of paint that will create a vintage look and make your mirror appear to be an antique piece. For the sentimental person in you, paste Polaroid pictures of yourself and your loved ones.
Lighting is the other important feature in the bathroom.
Nobody likes a dark room, unless it is required for your profession, like photographers. Other than them, people would like to stay in a well lighted place. Choosing the perfect lighting is not an easy task. Even the perfect design for a bathroom would fall short without the perfect lightings.
Below are some simple tips that would help you find the right vanity lighting that will literally and figuratively brighten up your bathroom:
- Buy unexposed light bulbs.
Go for those that are covered to avoid glare which is a pain in the eye.
Smaller bathrooms will require soft lights. Therefore, find fixtures that will give out this effect. This is for the reason that softer lights will create the illusion of the room being bigger than it really is. Other than this, it is energy efficient and cost effective.
- For a low-ceilinged bathroom, choose vertical/tube lighting while for high-ceilinged ones, go for hanging/suspended fixtures or those chandelier-like ones.
The advantage of having a high ceiling is that the effect of the flow of light could somehow be more dramatic as the light spreads and crawls itself to down to the floor and into every nook in the bathroom.
